Ethiopian Salary & Tax Calculator
Turn a monthly salary into take-home pay. The calculator applies the Ethiopian Ministry of Revenues PAYE brackets, 7% employee pension, and 11% employer pension, then shows every line of the payslip. Nothing is uploaded, and the figures stay in this tab.
Payroll inputs
All amounts are monthly Ethiopian Birr (ETB). Enter the numbers from your payslip or employment contract.
How this is calculated
Monthly PAYE uses the progressive Ethiopian income tax schedule. Each band applies its rate to the whole taxable income, then subtracts the statutory relief for that band. The band that matches your taxable income is highlighted below.
| Taxable income (ETB) | Rate | Relief |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 600 | 0% | 0.00 |
| 601 – 1,650 | 10% | 60.00 |
| 1,651 – 3,200 | 15% | 142.50 |
| 3,201 – 5,250 | 20% | 302.50 |
| 5,251 – 7,800 | 25% | 565.00 |
| 7,801 – 10,900 | 30% | 955.00 |
| Over 10,900 | 35% | 1,500.00 |
- Taxable income equals basic salary plus taxable allowances. Non-taxable allowances are added to your pay without increasing tax.
- The employee contributes 7% of basic salary and is deducted from your net pay. Your employer adds a further 11%, which is a company cost and is not deducted from you.
- Net salary = basic salary + taxable allowances + non-taxable allowances − (income tax + employee pension). Figures are estimates for planning, not a payroll instruction.
